High-Pressure Compressors for PET Applications

Since the 1960s, plastics have revolutionized industry and, consequently, the commercialization and consumption of a wide range of products. Their impact was such that, in only a few years, household life changed dramatically; for instance, the mass consumption of processed foods transformed the economy, culture, and diets of millions of people.

All of this has been made possible through the energy of high-pressure compressed air, which enables the manufacturing of hollow plastic products. This innovation represented a major breakthrough, as it eliminated the need to assemble two or more separately molded parts to produce a single bottle—significantly reducing costs while ensuring product quality. Although several techniques exist, the basic process requires only a closed female mold into which molten plastic is blown, expanding across the mold surface to form the final product.
